Pop in to see the incredible space and grab yourself a cup of coffee and a slice of cake!
Deo Gloria officially launched on 1st May 2024 and it was SO great to see it full of people from all around the area.
After many months of hard work, the team finally celebrated welcoming people into this fantastic new facility in the beating heart of the town centre!
We have heard incredible testimonies from the team already about how people are entering the place with a curiosity of who we are as a community and a church.
We’ve welcomed in new people, families and children into our church. We thank God for the many opportunities He is creating in this place.

Baptisms
Raised to Life!
In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus commissions his disciples to “Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.
Baptism is a one-time act during a believer’s lifetime, by which those who have repented and come to faith, express their union with Christ in his death and resurrection, by being immersed in water.
We believe that baptism has been ordained, and given to us as a commandment, by the Lord Jesus, to be practised in the Church, until He returns.
As we have witnessed the miracle of new believers coming to faith over the last few months, we are so excited to have our first baptisms of the year, on Sunday 27 Apr at 5pm, on the beach next to Teignmouth Pier. If you are unfamiliar with the location, here is a Google Maps link https://maps.app.goo.gl/WmAtjz4ECVmmVuZf8
There are public toilets in the vicinity (on the green behind the Pier) as well as parking on the Promenade or at East Cliff Carpark close by.
If you have come to faith in Jesus Christ and made a commitment to follow Him, but have yet to be baptised, please make contact with Matt Machin, either in person on a Sunday, or by sending an email to matt.machin@rediscoverchurch.com.

April Mission Update
We believe you will find this update encouraging and helpful.
Every few months we send out an update following on from a Vision morning and here is an update and reminder of our focus and mission for the year ahead.
It's quite a long read, but one we believe you will find encouraging and helpful especially if you are fairly new to Rediscover Church.
THE BIG VISION
How do we do this?
We:
live courageously
love extravagantly
thrive authentically
As Senior Leader Mark Pugh says, "We are carriers of God's glory as we step out in these core values and help people discover the message of Jesus"
THE JOURNEY SO FAR...
In January 2023 Rediscover Church Newton Abbot was birthed as a Church Plant in the town and the first of a vision for 100 plant churches across the South West.
The purpose of starting this new church is;
"To reach those who don't consider themselves as connected to a local church and effectively reach them with the gospel and lead them towards being disciples who make disciples of others".
As a young plant Church, over the last 12 months and into this year our focus is very much on putting foundations in place for the vision to take shape.
You may remember us talking about 'The Big 5':
The weekly Sunday Gathering.
A place to come together once a week to corporately centre our lives around Jesus Christ, to build each other up in the faith, to serve and to love one another as Christ loves us.Deo Gloria
A bridge that links us to our community. We pray that God will give us many opportunities to share with those who do not yet know of God's love for them. We are now officially open!!!Discipleship
Life groups mid-week connection point for further encouragement and care as we live out our lives.
0-30's Vision: Young Adults Ministry

There will be an opportunity soon for all the prayer hubs to join together for a special zoom prayer event. (details coming soon)Community Reach
The Alpha Course
:This year we will launch our first Alpha course at Deo Gloria. Everyone is invited, even if you've been a Christian for a long time. Come along. Alpha starts on Monday nights 7pm from Monday 8th April and is led by Reuben Smith and a team.
A GROWING TEAM
At the end of 2023 we said goodbye to 3 team members from the original Planting team. While this was a challenge at the start of this new church plant, God has blessed the church with many hands and feet to help in the mission. Phil & Esther Daniels have been asked by Rediscover Church to stay on as the Lead team here in Newton Abbot and steward the Vision and Mission, and for 2024 joining and supporting them is:
James & Ellie Rutley, Jacob Williams: Young Adults Leaders
Lawson & Lesley Spiller, (Lawson Elder and Lead Worship)
Matt and Caroline Machin, (Matt Elder/ Caroline Families)
Dave and Alice Pickett, Graham and Liz Allen, (Pastoral support to lead team)
Big announcement
Joining the team for 2024 is our new Operations and Administration Co-ordinator. We are delighted that Rediscover Church have appointed Olivia Walker to be part-time Operations and Administrator Co-ordinator here in Newton Abbot.
Olivia not only has great skills but she has grown to love the local church here in Newton Abbot and will be such a gift to the church enabling the smooth running of ministries in the days ahead.
Stewarding Sundays
There is also an army of people who steward our Sundays and make them GREAT! We are so thankful for the way they serve us every week. Here is a list below of some of our Sunday heroes who look after some of the vital aspects of Sundays. We are always after people to help and serve and join our teams - so why not consider jumping on a Sunday Team.
Johnny Walker: Welcome Team Leader
Carol Taylor: Hospitality /Refreshments
Gordon Horne: Tech Lead
Sally Walker: Discoveryland 2-5's:
Esther Daniels: Discoveryland 6-11's:
As we head into April, we will be very much focused on the opening of Deo Gloria.
We want to thank all those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes with paper work, with orders, designs, painting, cleaning, coffee and food tasting (somebody had to do it!) - but a huge thank you to Dez Minto who over the last few months stepped in to steer this project and staffing to make all the details come together.
And finally, thank you Jesus for being the head of your church.
We remind ourselves today that you are the head and we follow your lead. Help us Holy Spirit to steward well what you have placed in our hands in this season, that we may bring all the glory back to you. We commit lord to pray for one another and for the wider church across this region.
May our love for you be shown by our love for one another - and in doing so, be a demonstration to the world that God is love.
Amen.
God Bless you.

Prayer Hubs
We encourage you to meet every week and pray for each other.
'They devoted themselves to..........prayer' (Acts 2:42-47)
At the start of 2024 we introduced what we believe will be vital to us as individuals and as a church the year 'PRAYER HUBS'.
The 'HUB' on a bicycle or any wheel is a central part of that wheel and it is from this point that effective activity takes place (i.e Movement).
We believe that all central activity in our lives and in the life of our church this year will only be effective if the central HUB is PRAYER.
What does a prayer Hub look like?
Prayer Hubs consist of 2-4 people who meet at least once a month to pray specifically over the following;
each others lives
the Rediscover Church family
Newton Abbot and the surrounding areas
Friends, families, work colleagues
It can be a facetime with a few friends, meeting up for a coffee, going for a walk in your local area, or any other creative ideas you might have!
Creating a Hub
1. Ask someone or a few people to pray with you and start a HUB.
2. Agree a time and place to meet, or pray via a video / phone call. We suggest praying for around 30 - 60 minutes
3. Get going!
We would love to know about your prayer hub happening as it encourages the church, so once you have your HUB set up, please do email us to let us know you're in a hub.
We don't need the details of your time and meeting places, just that you are in a HUB.
